Description
The Keto diet, short for ketogenic diet, is a high-fat, low-carbohydrate dietary regimen designed to induce a state of ketosis in the body. In ketosis, the body shifts from using glucose as its primary energy source to utilizing fat. This metabolic change occurs when carbohydrate intake is significantly reduced, typically to about 5-10% of total daily calories, while fat intake is increased to approximately 70-75%. The remaining calories come from protein, making up about 20-25% of the diet. This unique macronutrient ratio is what sets the Keto diet apart from other dietary approaches.
